The Portuguese teams had a great highlight triumphing in two of the five stages of the race and getting the 3rd place of the final podium with the team Jorge Oliveira-Carlos Loureiro.

There were five Portuguese teams that showed up at Er Rachidia: Luís Ferreira-Marta Neto and António Sousa-Carlos Cachadas were driving Land Rover Defender 110, which they used in the last edition of Lisbon-Dakar. And the first one managed to finish for the second consecutive year. Jorge Oliveira-Carlos Loureiro and Lino Alves-Marta Alves preferred the short version of Defender. José Magalhães-Madalena Magalhães had a well-prepared Nissan Patrol GR.

The Raid had an unexpected outcome, with Spanish duo Jose Gonzalez-Miguel Murcia in Nissan Patrol GR, to replace Favio Ricci-Lorenzo Navarro already on the final line.

Organized by the Nomada Club of Spain, the Raid 1000 Kasbahs was one of the most reputed and one of the oldest navigation events in North Africa.
